Struggling with Sciatica Pain?

Running into obstacles when deciding on how to treat your condition? Rolfing is an excellent form of treatment for sciatica pain.

Taming the Pain of Sciatica with Rolfing

Generally, what happens with sciatica is that a nerve gets pinched underneath a muscle and as you continue to use that muscle it irritates the nerve. When the nerve gets too irritated and inflamed you get a really strong pain signal and it may become hard to move the affected area. If you have felt this pain, you know! It’s terrible and can affect all of your activities. You spend the day worried about little movements that might set off the pain – and it doesn’t go away easily.

With Rolfing, we can find the tight muscles that are putting strain on the nerves and get the release you need.

Because the sciatic nerve is such a big nerve we work along the entire line of it to eliminate any pinching and stop the symptoms from returning. We can also restore movement to the nerves (yes, nerves move!) and get them to glide properly. If the nerve has its full ability to glide and the muscle is no longer pressing on it, the pain signal will go away. It’s often that simple. Get tension off the nerve and let the body heal – and you are back to normal, and can get back to your regular activities!

If the pain continues we can use a Cold Laser to speed up healing and decrease inflammation.

If treated early, these conditions can heal very quickly! That’s why I recommend scheduling a visit with Michigan Rolfing as soon as you are aware of your condition. We can help!

A little more about nerves:

Nerves are extremely important: they’re the electrical and communication system of your body, feeding information all over and controlling the other systems. Your brain and body will take measures to keep nerves safe, and will send you a really strong signal when they are in danger. With nerve pain points, the body doesn’t have a method to release the tension in the muscles over these nerves – it may actually hold tension in the area to prevent movement that might cause damage to the nerve. The body’s protective instincts run counter to its healing in this case.

The Sciatic nerves run from your spine down between muscles under your glutes, to your leg and all the way to the bottom of your foot. There are several different branches and your body can exhibit symptoms in different places along the Sciatic pathway. It may be deep aches in your back or butt, or numbness or localized pain in your foot.
